NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS
Pursuant to Section 174.052, Wisconsin Statutes, notice is hereby given to all owners of dogs that rabies vaccinations and dog licenses are required under the statutes by April 1st of each year.
- All dogs within the Town of Fremont must be licensed when they are five months old or within 30 days of arriving in Town of Fremont. Dog licenses may be obtained from the town clerk or by mail with a stamped self-addressed return envelope.
- To license a dog five months of age or older, a current rabies vaccination certificate and a certificate of sterility (if the dog has been spayed or neutered) are required. If a certificate of sterility is not available and the dog has been altered, a letter from a veterinarian stating the animal has been altered will suffice. Older vaccinated dogs must be revaccinated when the certificates expires or within 3 years of the previous vaccination. Presentation of evidence that the dog is currently immunized against rabies must be presented when obtaining the dog license each year. The cost of a dog license is $3.00 per year for a spayed or neutered dog, and $8.00 per year for a dog that is not altered.
The fee for a multiple dog license is $35.00 for the first 12 dogs.
There is an additional fee of $3.00 for each dog over 12 dogs.
A late fee of $5.00 shall be assessed the owner of each dog 5 months of age or over who fails to obtain a dog license by April 1st of each year. An owner who fails to have a dog vaccinated against rabies as required by statute may be required to forfeit not less than $50.00 nor more than $100.00.
Licensing is a requirement of Wisconsin. The license, attached to your dog's collar, will identify you as the owner should the dog be lost. If the dog is impounded and is taken to the town’s holding shelter - Dairyland Animal Health in Weyauwega (920-867-3106) and is wearing its tag, you will be notified. Dogs not wearing their current license tags are held only 7 days for redemption.
